To be fair Boeing has done OK pursuing Woke. The Boeing Board of Directors has two highly compensated black females.. with absolutely zero collage courses or aerospace internship experience with any sort of FAA exposure regarding the construction and operating of Commercial Passenger Jets, including NASA Manned Space Programs, Military Grade Weapon Systems, Top Secret Defense Department Programs, Ballistic Rockets, Bombers, Combat Fighters and their related maintainance engineering or a clue about Logistics. And they are not alone. Most of the Boeing board members are political and don't know squat about computers and software. For all the above you need the talent and experience starting of a Northrop-Grumman or Lockheed.

Musk is correct, managers in a technical company must be technically educated or beter still he/she should be majoring in the technological branch in which the company is in. A company like Boeing must be managed by aeronautics educated managers not accountants or MBAs. However, in the west the trend is that a company should be run by MBAs and not engineers. The consequence is that more and more companies are failing in the competition because they do not have the knowledge of the technological aspects nor the vision.

Boeing has built rockets and unmanned spacecraft but the Starliner is the first manned spacecraft it has built.

Boeing, compare it to a soap company. The CEO after a multi-million study done by one of his friends concludes that all customers throw away at least 10% of each soap bar. Financial whiz that he is, he concludes he can make his soap bars 10% smaller but charge the same price. His well-paid buddy a year later AGAIN concludes that customers still throw away 10%, with the CEO again agreeing. And so on. Well, IBM was about to collapse in the 1980s. Then they hired the CEO of Nabisco who knew nothing about the technical aspects of IBM, but he understood what the parts of IBM did and knew what to do with those parts to offer a complete solution that big customers wanted. He also knew how to reorganize IBM to more efficiently deliver products and services profitably. So it isn't necessary that the leaders have to be as technically proficient as their employees, but they should know how to gain the respect of their employees by being able to efficiently lead the group to success that everybody feels they are being recognized and rewarded for as a team.
